SPARK Screenwriting Finalists: Winners Announcement

SPARK INITIATIVE SCREENPLAY FINALISTS

Darwin International Film Festival’s SPARK INITIATIVE received 26 entries for screenwriters across the Darwin region. The screenplays were a fantastic representation of the quality of writing in Darwin with a diverse mixture of comedy, drama, animation, film-noir and thrillers.  We were inspired by the passion and quality of all the entries and want to thank all of the screenwriters who submitted their scripts.

Screenplays were judged over a range of parameters, including the strength of the story, creativity of vision and the feasibility of producing the work for the budget. SPARK wants to thank our judges; Phil Denson (Undergrowth Productions), Rachel Clements (Brindle Films), Meredith Garlick (Thomas Street Productions) and David Tiley (Screen Hub) who read through all 26 scripts and had the difficult task of choosing between them.

Congratulations to the five screenwriters whose work has been selected. These five scripts will now move toward production and receive the SPARK short film seed fund.
